I created a collection of 36 photos that, in my opinion, best represent my experience in Tübingen (Germany). These pictures cover a period from October 2021 to September 2022 and were mainly taken in Tübingen and in the surrounding area, with just few exceptions coming from some other attractive German cities.

The collection is entitled “One year in Tü. A Chapter.” and it is fully available on my Pixelfed profile. All the photos are published under the CC BY-NC-SA license.

This blog post is part of a Tübingen themed project made of three posts, so you may want to also visit the Tübingen Experiential Guide for International Students and the Tübingen Hiking Guide.

Here you can view every photo with a little bit of commentary!

This is one of my favourite glimpses of Marktplatz.

2/

The Stocherkahnrennen is probably one of the highlights of the summer semester in Tübingen. It is held (almost) every year since 1956 and the date to save is the Corpus Christi day (on a Thursday, usually in June).

3/

A view of the Stiftskirche from the Schloss Hohentübingen (more precisely from here).

4/

When I firstly arrived in Tübingen, in October 2021, Germany was close to the biggest change of the last years. Angela Merkel then retired and Germany started to be a little bit more confused.

5/

This elevetor (at least twice as old as me) was literally the very first thing I saw in Tübingen.

6/

WHO and its “iconic” buildings. I feel like I spent too much time there.

7/

Maybe I should have posted the Universitätsbibliothek cafeteria, probably I spent more time there than studying…

8/

A vintage road bike in front of Neue Aula.

9/

The inside of Neue Aula, built in 1846.

10/

Tübingen is a bike friendly city, kind of a small Amsterdam. At least, they have bike lanes…

11/

The tunnel crossing the Schloss hill.

12/

Just some Italians chatting in b&w.

13/

I didn’t expect a car museum to be so good. Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.

14/

In 1477, Eberhard I of Württemberg, whose motto was attempto (“I dare”), founded the University of Tübingen. — Wikipedia

This is his statue in Stuttgart.

15/

Vfb has been, from that day on, my favourite German team!

16/

Rothenburg ob der Tauber was probably my favourite city amongst those I visited in Germany.

17/

The attractions at the Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest.

18/

I enjoyed some high level tennis at the ATP 250 in Stuttgart. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Andy Murray warming up in the picture.

19/

Hiking is one of my favourite activities. This picture was taken during a hike, close to the Schopflocher Torfmoor.

20/

Burg Hohenzollern is one of the most scenic castles in the area. This photo was taken from the Zoller Horn, during a hike.

21/

Another hiking destination is the Schönbuchturm in Herrenberg. If you are crazy enough you could go there by foot, and come back.

22/

Herrenberg is a small, but cute, town not far away from Tübingen.

23/

People enjoying Neckar and the sun.

24/

A view of Holzmarkt from the bell tower of the Stiftskirche.

25/

Getting ready for a thursday night in Clubhaus.

26/

Tübingen and its decorated street lamps.

27/

This night of the Tübingen Stadtfest was probably the funniest one in town.

28/

Another fairytale castle in Lichtenstein.

29/

A detail of the Sigmaringen Castle, built on the Danube. A hike could be a good idea to visit it.

30/

I swear that most buses are more modern (but less stylish).

31/

The 2022 European Championships were a multisport event held in Munich this summer. Fabio Jakobsen and Arnaud Démare (in the picture) were first and second in the cycling men’s road race.

32/

I’m a great fan of theme parks. Europa-Park is the German response to that big French park (but Gardaland rules).

33/

This summer, at the European Championships in Köln, the German national team retired the jersey of Dirk Nowitzki, the European basketball GOAT, as of now.

34/

The most famous view in Tübingen, from Neckarbrücke.

35/

My empty room, in Fichtenweg, the day I left Tübingen.

36/36

The Italian border on the Splügen Pass in October, coming back to Italy.

All these pictures were taken using a Nikon D5600 or an Oppo Find X2 Neo.
